Tasks of the OeAWI
The Agency makes its expertise available to raise awareness and prevent research misconduct. It also offers lectures and workshops on the topic of good research practice for member institutions.
The OeAWI provides a neutral and factual platform for investigating cases of (alleged) research misconduct thoroughly and objectively. The Commission for Research Integrity is responsible for professionally investigating such cases in Austria, evaluating the severity of each violation and recommending follow-up measures.

The OeAWI is a project partner in the Horizon 2020 projects ENERI (European Network of Research Ethics and Research Integrity) and VIRT2UE (Virtue based Ethics and Integrity of Research: Train-the-Trainer program for upholding the principles and practices of the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity).

The agency is a member of the European Network of Research Integrity Offices (ENRIO), meaning it is well connected internationally with similar organizations. Approximately 30 organizations from more than 20 European countries are currently members of ENRIO.
